Some thoughts

I've been super busy lately....after I get home from school Adam leaves to go to work and then when the kids go to bed I have about 4 running projects (all of which have the same deadline). Therefore not too much blogging....except when I can't stop thinking about something.

I decided to post this on my blog instead of on Facebook since people can/are soooo mean on Facebook....no one really wants to hear others opinions anyways....especially if it leaves us feeling guilty or convicted ...myself included.

Today many of my friends posted the equal sign for their Facebook profile picture, representing their thoughts on gay people having equal rights in marriage. The world tells me that if I don't " feel" for these people who only want to have the same rights as Adam and I do then I am narrow minded, selfish and perhaps even a radical Christian. The world tells me that God wants everyone to " feel" happy, regardless of what that looks like. The world says that gay people can't help how they "feel".

I strongly believe that we have to stop living and acting by what we "feel" and focus on what the Bible says, instructs, commands, teaches. If we all live according to our own fleshly desires and feelings then I'm gonna pray ten times longer every night for the world that my children will grow up in.  I'm not sure why following Gods commands is deemed as such narrow minded thinking anyways. I'm constantly torn between my feelings for gay people....having 2 in my own family....I love them ...the same way i love my other family members, maybe even more obviously too,......but I pray that God breaks them to the point where they are forced to face their sin and run back to His grace. On a simpler note I'm torn daily between acting out according to how I feel and behaving in a manner that is parallel with the bible....example: road rage, discipline with my children, reacting to a comment from a co-worker, etc. Therefore, instead of being narrow minded I am constantly being made aware of how hard it is to live according to Gods word.......but instead of acting on my feelings I have to make a CHOICE, a DAILY CHOICE. Even if I "feel" like others should have every chance to find happiness, I KNOW that the only way to find true JOY, ETERNAL LOVE is through Christ and the FREEDOM he gives us through his word.

This post took me 3 days to write because I do love several people who are gay or who support gay marriage and I didn't want to offend anyone. In the same breath though I will not deny my faith and I do 100% believe that the Bible defines marriage as "1 woman and 1 man"... Not our watered down version of marriage which is two people who make each other happy for any given length of time.

Thankful

We just had 7 couples from our church over for a scavenger hunt/St. Patty's Day party. We, as usual ended up with all the guys in one room, girls in another....but regardless we had a great time and I am so thankful for our TX family. We really do love our church and as I stood talking with new and old friends (we had a new person come to sunday school today and she came back tonight for our party) it was fun to talk about our kids, upcoming events, how we decorate our houses, houses on the market, all the things that we need sounding boards for. I think the best thing about the night was that I have a history of over a year with most of these girls and they were reminding me how this time last year we were settling in with a new baby and how much of a stomach punch it was...not Baby Boy himself but just experiencing a Newborn. It's nice to have people invested in your life...really nice.

We start back to school tomorrow....so to quote Goober " I wish we had another 3 weeks off". I really can't wait until summer...I had the kids to myself most days while Adam worked and even though there were chaotic moments I ate up every bit of it. Doesn't someone want to pay me to stay at home and play with my kids?....anyone?....last chance?. Okay, well if not then doesn't someone want to pay my husband gobs of money so I can stay at home with my kids and play?....anyone?...last chance? :)

I'm going to dump some of my phone pictures from the last 2 months on here and go pack some school lunches, iron a shirt and work on a Goober's Disney scrapbook :)

Ribbit started ballet/tap/gymnastics. Don't worry its a 1 hour class, with 20 mins devoted to each area. She does amazing, listens to her teacher, follows along, doesn't whine for me like all the other little darlings in her class :)
Goober had his 2nd grade production of the Old Testament. I was so impressed with how much he memorized....18 verses, 3 songs, 1 singing solo and 3 speaking solos. He's in the green on the front row. I will upload videos another day.
Baby Boy on his 1 year old birthday. Don't they book look handsome? Baby Boy actually let me straighten his hair that day .....hehe, Adam didn't like that but he stood there, still as anything and let me do it....he loved it.
Me with my Mr. "One"derful!! Don't ask about my hair, it involves Adam, two boxes of hair color and an extra long Downton Abby episode.....it has lightened up now.....I'm sure glad that this day was also picture day at school....AWEEEE SOME!!
This picture captures everything that Goober LOVES---birthday parties, bounce houses, cake, ice cream and his football clothes :)
Yo, Yo, Yo my name is Ribbit, and this is what I put on when mommy tells me to get dressed for dinner (she was naked). She is wearing her valentine's day crown, fun run glasses, vest that she was wearing in the 1st picture I ever got of her (therefore I will never throw it away and yes it is size 18m and she is 3), her gray skirt that she loves and her stompeez that she must wear at all times indoors.
This rarely happens, only when we are crunched for time or if Goober begs for it. This is the only picture I got where Baby Boy isn't gulping down bath water, Ribbits hair isn't wiped across her face and Goober isn't covering his chest with both hands because he doesn't want "the camera to see his body". :)
Another picture from Baby Boy's adoption. He was pretty smitten with our attorney and kept yelling at him and making sure he was doing the paperwork right ;)

What's going on

Here are some pictures to help you understand why I have been absent....

Baby Boy had surgery this past Thursday....he acted very brave and sweet before.....doesn't he look so grown up here?

I still had to get in as many kisses as I could before he went back.
Right after this they gave him his first round of anesthesia and he started getting tired and giggly. Then we laid him in the little crib, he sat up and they wheeled him off, all the while he was carefree.

Out of surgery, the next morning, with a battle scar. He did great ...the doctor got the whole cyst out and told us that what we were seeing (a large bump on eyebrow) was only a third of the cyst..the rest was growing into his bone. It will heal very quickly now, especially since he is so young. Right after surgery he was very lethargic and scared me to the point where I almost dropped him. He was gulping apple juice and downing popsicles before we left the hospital and got home and went to crawling. Since this picture his eye is a little less swollen and his stitches are a little less bloody.

It felt a little weird to not travel anywhere for Spring Break this year but we got SOOOO much done!!! Got all the kids winter clothes put away and summer wardrobes out. Got all the kids clothes/toys that they have outgrown tagged for an upcoming consignment sale. Adam worked every day of this week and made some good money--especially since I was home and there was no childcare cost. We got our taxes done and sent in. We got our home clean to host a St. Patty's Day party tomorrow night for our Sunday School class. We went to a birthday party, took the kids to a German restaurant, spent lots of time swinging outside, taking walks, watched some movies, had a campout and loved on one another.

Our children ran around crazy at the party and we barely got the 5 of us together to sing Happy Birthday, I actually don't think I saw Ribbit around for the cake at all. Regardless, here are the 2 birthday boys and Mom....all rocking mustaches!!!

PARTTTAAAYYY

Yesterday we had a big ole combo birthday for Adam and Baby Boy. You have to celebrate turning 30 and you HAVE to celebrate turning 1....and in all honesty it helped Adam turn 30, made it a little easier on him to have his cute little 1 year old by his side. We had church friends come, our neighbors, seminary friends, work friends and EVEN ALABAMA FAMILY!!!! Yup, Sarah and Doug and sweet Caroline drove up and stayed with us for the party. My kids LOVE Caroline, a little too much....like all up in her face all the time love. She is in an only child (not for long) so hopefully she will be used to it next time and won't cry when Ribbit starts coming at her :). We also had Ross and Susie, our Auburn friends who live like 10 minutes away and yet we never see....geesh, we are awful friends.

Anyways, it was lots of fun. We talked and ate and bounced and beat up a pinata and ate some more. Since naps were not a part of the schedule yesterday we all had meltdowns around 7ish and everyone went to bed a little early.

Today Adam and I are headed to a comedy show....it was Adam's valentines day present from me. We are going to see Tim Hawkins, a christian comedian, who from the clips we have seen, looks pretty stinking hilarious. I am not easily impressed with jokes so if Tim gets me going then you know he is good!!!

Recent Quotes from my children:

Ribbit (in a mean voice, ninja stance, evil face) "DO NOT COME BACK TO THE VAN WITHOUT GOOBER"...and then stomped her foot. We stopped watching Eon Kid after that since that is a common phrase for Grandmother Orange to say .

Ribbit  (mommy voice, mommy hand on hip stance) "If you break de rules, we cannot fix de rules". So there.

Goober " Its not really bad though if you pafitti about God. (meaning graffiti)

Goober " mom, do you want me to be a football player or an artist, and don't think about how much I will get hurt when you answer". "mom do you want me to go Auburn or A&M and don't say that I'm not allowed to go anywhere else but Auburn".

Goober "are you going to the store in that?......you look homeless" --- I was in sweats and a t-shirt :).

Pictures from the Party .....I like these first few b/c its very true to how our mornings run. We get more done before 7:30 in the morning then most people do all day :)...including trying on our mustaches :).

I like this picture b/c some decor for the party is out, some not. You can also see the green shelf in the foyer Adam made for me and our handprint painting that has all the important dates in our family on it with a quote underneath that says " what a difference a day can make".

Trying out our disguises for the party.

The seat of honor....

We "mustache"you to take one...

Birthday Boy Banner....

Birthday Boy Hats...including a ridiculously big one for the 30 year old :)

More pictures to come!!!
