Artsy Fartsy 2

We have been going 90 to nothing here. Packing up the house, getting ready for our yardsale this weekend and of course doing 1st grade homework, staying involved at church and keeping up with every football (war eagle) and baseball (go rangers) game that we can!
We are going to move over a 3 week period...which will be very nice! We will make our big final move the last weekend of October....I CAN'T WAIT.....have I mentioned the island in the kicthen?...what about the double oven?

Here are some more works from my oh so talented students. We just finished our first nine weeks so they finally got lots of projects matted and/or mounted.

7th grade-blown ink trees, then we studied calligraphy and added a verse about creation onto it. I am so blessed to work at a christian school!

Oddly enough, my boys had beautiful handwriting, where as the girls struggled and pretty much just embellished their own handwriting.

7th grade-we studied foreshortening mainly from "The Dead Christ" and then they drew themselves as if they had just fallen onto a glass floor. We talked about what someone below them may see, what their facial expression would be like and how our body looks when we compact certain parts and extend others. They loved this project!!! The girls did better at using colored pencils but I loved my boys ideas on creating a story behind how they fell!

This student got my only 100...you may not be able to tell but she layered several colors for her skin tone. I love her :)

 Isn't this cute....doesn't he look like a sailor? This student is super quiet but I hear him say one liners to his friends all the time.

Intro to Art: We studied Ruisdael (a dutch landscape artist) and they drew our campus based on his style of billowing clouds and a melancholy atmosphere. 

Look at those clouds in the background...beautiful...this male student really paid attention...funny, I couldn't tell by how many times I had to ask him to stop riding his drawing board down the grassy hills :)

This young lady played volleyball for me last year. This is her first year in art....and she has no clue how talented she is. She was my featured artist of the week!

Dedication

This morning we dedicated the children. We told them that we knew we were just borrowing them from God for a little while and that we wanted to dedicate their lives to him. We also told them that the church family would be dedicating themselves to them, to promise to help us raise them in a God pleasing way. Goob wasn't sure about going up on stage but did really well. Before going up he was even belting out songs during worship " I am free to run, free to dance, free to live for you". Ribbit was a different story. Since we had to sit up front she a lot of space to dance during worship and she did just that. She also cried out for mommy everytime daddy touched her. We wanted to do this a lot sooner but had to wait until the adoption was finalized. We are kinda sad to be dedicating the kids in this church and then leaving so soon afterwards. We picked this church because of the children's ministry but I know we will find another great church where we are moving to.

So Goob came into our bedroom this morning while I was putting my make up on and announced that he had packed for the move. This is what he had in his bookbag :)....funny little guy.

5 in a row!!!

Guess who got 5 stickers in a row this week?....my little GOOOOOOBBBBEERRR!!!
He was so excited and he didn't want to celebrate on Saturday so we went to Chuck E Cheese on Friday night, against everything in me. It actually went well...we were in and out within 1.5 hours. Both kids were happy with the candy and cheap toys they won...they both slept well...overall a great Friday!

Soooooo, we are moving!!!! We have been offered the chance to live in a house that is about a 3 minute walk from our school. I AM SO STINKIN EXCITED. Goob is too, he keeps saying that he is going to ride his bike to school everyday. Its a GOD thing. Adam and I have been worried to death about what our next move is. This house will help us make that big decision even though we are still waiting on God to make it clear cut. The house is 4 bedroom (wow, that's one more than we need, does anyone else hear a small voice saying "adopt again" over and over?) 3 bath, a huge living room, a kitchen ....wait for it...WITH AN ISLAND, a back porch with glass windows overlooking the back yard and TONS of storage!!!!! We will be doing the same thing there that we did to the house we are currently in....fixing it up for a cheaper rent. Everything that the landlords want done is cosmetic and they are leaving all the colors up to us. They are such good people and I can't wait to be there! It literally just fell in our laps on Tuesday and today we met with them to finalize some things.

So this next month will be SUPER DUPER CRAZY....moving, finding a new church, registering Goober for an upward team over that way and getting ready for the Holiday season....and can I mention the kitchen  has AN ISLAND?

I am writing this while my husband and good friend are managing to watch 15 football games and 1 baseball game at one time.....so if there are major typos oh well!
